A mathematics professor at Pennsylvania College of Technology was invited by two Chinese institutes of higher education to give presentations this summer. On June 27, William Ma offered a talk titled "Hyperbolic metric in geometric function theory" at Beihang University in Beijing. On July 22, he presented "Hyperbolic metric and convex functions" at Yulin College in Yulin.

Asesh K. Das, professor of information technology in Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Business and Computer Technologies, recently was nominated by former students to be included in the 11th edition of "Who's Who Among America's Teachers." "(It's a) great, deep honor for a teacher," said Das, who continues as a multiple-year nominee, having been honored annually since 2004.

Laura M. Dickinson, associate professor of English-composition at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was recently nominated for inclusion in "Who's Who Among America's Teachers and Educators." Her biography will appear in the 11th edition of the book, which honors teachers who have been nominated by former students.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's HVAC technology department has been approved as a training center for certification under the National Oilheat Research Alliance. The certification program forheating, ventilation and air conditioningtechnicianswho work with oil heat is offered in three levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Astore's article, "The Tragic Pursuit of Total Victory," examines the efforts of Field Marshal Paul von Hindenburg and Gen.

Ward W. Caldwell has been named special assistant to the president for student affairs at Pennsylvania College of Technology, a special mission affiliate of The Pennsylvania State University. The appointment of Caldwell, who had been director of residence life at the college, was approved Thursday by the Penn College Board of Directors.
