Three students Ann Marie Prosser, of Elizabethtown; Lauren Whitcraft, of Mountville; and Nadena M. Nykaza, of Jermyn and one faculty member, Rhonda J. Seebold, spent a week (Feb. 20-27) in Managua, Nicaragua, working with students and parents of La Escuelita to educate them on proper dental hygiene and to perform basic dental care.

Abdul B. Pathan, professor of economics at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently presented a paper to fellow college and university economics professors on using current economic events in the classroom.

Carl L. Shaner, Student Health Center director at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has been selected as a program-proposal reviewer for the 2009 National Collegiate Athletic Association CHOICES alcohol education grant.

Penn College's academic deans have identified five faculty members who have crafted successful learning-outcomes activities that warrant replication. The funeral will be Saturday morning for William H. Ealer, who, at the time of his Feb. 14 death, was the seniormost active faculty member at Penn College. An assistant professor of architectural technology in the college's School of Construction and Design Technologies, Ealer began his teaching career at the former Williamsport Area Community College in 1965. The funeral will be at 11 a.m.
