Billie A. Coffman, associate professor of early childhood education at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was selected by Family Communications Inc., the producers of "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood," to be a trainer in Pennsylvania for teachers, child-care providers and parents who work with children with challenging behaviors.
Two new assistant deans have joined the administrative staff in the School of Integrated Studies at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Dr. Clifford P. Coppersmith began working at Penn College in June as the assistant dean of liberal arts. He is responsible for English, mathematics and the Social Science and Humanities Department. Dr.
Matthew P. Branca, director of The College Store at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently earned the designation "Certified Collegiate Retailer." The credential, granted by the National Association of College Stores, has been earned by fewer than 10 percent of all eligible candidates. According to Brian E.
Brett A. Reasner, associate professor of aviation and the 1999 Master Teacher at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has accepted the position of chair-elect for College Council. "I am pleased with the chance to serve the College in this capacity. I look forward to working with colleagues currently serving in the Governance system and encouraging new members to join," he said.
Leonard R. Filipkowski, associate professor of collision repair in Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Transportation Technology, has received a Master Certified Technician award from Toyota's Collision Repair and Refinish Certification Program. The Picture Rocks resident has instructed in collision repair and refinishing for almost 32 years.
Dennis E. Gilbert, director of Workforce Development and Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology, will be the keynote speaker at the 2005 Non-Credit Continuing Education National Conference. The conference, which is being presented by the University of South Carolina College of Education, will be held at the Ocean Creek Resort in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on April 3-6.
Dr. Henryk R. Marcinkiewicz, associate vice president for academic affairs at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has co-written a book about organizing and conducting a professional-development program for new faculty. The book, "New Faculty Professional Development: Planning an Ideal Program," was published recently by New Forums Press Inc., Stillwater, Okla.

Stephen T. Duna, instructor of collision repair, recently was recognized by Chief Automotive Systems Training Division with certification as a Master Structural Technician. Due to the constantly changing nature of automotive technology, regular collision-repair training is an ongoing fact of life in the industry, as well as in teaching.
