Sounds like team spirit! “Wildcat Wars,” a Penn College tradition since 2014, brought its raucous and respectful rivalries to the UPMC Athletic Field. Competing in kickball, dodgeball and tug of war, four residence life teams battled it out on a picture-perfect September evening.

Jason K. Embick has been appointed executive director of the Clean Energy Center at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Embick had been serving on the Clean Energy Center’s leadership team as director of training operations. He joined the center in 2015 and has fulfilled multiple roles, including instructional specialist, special projects coordinator and assistant director.

The Dunham Children's Learning Center at Penn College celebrated grandparents on Friday, Sept. 6, with an activity, snack and outside play. Grandparents' Day or National Grandparents' Day is observed on the first Sunday after Labor Day, with this year’s official observance landing on Sunday, Sept. 8.

The Dunham Children’s Learning Center hosted a “back to school” employee engagement event for employees whose children attend the on-campus early childhood education center. Designed to help welcome and connect the center’s employee parents, the event provided photos ops with the Wildcat.

A new initiative to increase visibility has been implemented by Penn College Police: the use of “cruise lights” on top of patrol vehicles. Cruise lights are dimmer than emergency lights and do not flash. Only the red and blue lights on the ends of the vehicle’s rooftop light bar are on.

The youngest members of the Penn College campus were enthusiastically greeted with waves and cheers as they participated in their annual Independence Day Parade on Tuesday. Marching, skipping and rolling along the campus mall, the beloved tradition of the Dunham Children’s Learning Center was enjoyed by participants and onlookers alike. Also boosting the red, white and blue procession was ideal summer weather.

The Dunham Children's Learning Center at Penn College recently celebrated one of its favorite summer days: Mud Day! “Three of the most versatile and accessible play tools with many physical and cognitive benefits are mud, dirt and water,” offered Alicia C. Dobbs, a CLC childcare provider. “These three tools are already common materials in early childhood education and are tools to dive into (literally)."

With the theme, “Strength through Collaboration,” Penn College hosted its second annual Juneteenth “Lunch & Learn” on Wednesday to honor the federal holiday. The sizable audience in Penn’s Inn included college employees, students and community members. The event highlighted the need for collaboration to achieve change, progress, equity, justice and quality education.

’Twas the night before Baja, and Penn College's main campus in Williamsport was hopping with pre-competition excitement. Penn College’s Baja SAE team members were stoked to welcome the visitors and proud to show off their labs, including the Baja Room. Guests were impressed.

Pennsylvania College of Technology has appointed Andrea M. Campbell assistant dean of curriculum & instruction in Academic Affairs. Campbell officially began her duties on May 13. Her primary responsibilities include oversight of curriculum and instruction processes, faculty professional-development initiatives, new-faculty development and the First Year Experience course.
