Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week held its fourth and final summer session at Pennsylvania College of Technology July 28 to Aug. 2. More than 300 young high school juniors and seniors attended the engaging event, the signature program of the Foundation for Free Enterprise Education. The youth leadership gathering provides a hands-on, practical way for students to immerse themselves in the world of business and gain a sense of their entrepreneurial talents.

The stars on the stage at the Community Arts Center on Saturday were none other than the latest group of Pennsylvania College of Technology graduates. A livestream broadcast of the 90-minute Summer Commencement ceremony was also offered and is still available for viewing online.

Pennsylvania College of Technology has presented student achievement awards to its Summer 2024 graduates. A commencement ceremony was held Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Community Arts Center, Williamsport. Penn College is a special mission affiliate of Penn State.

A Pennsylvania College of Technology business faculty member was recognized with a pair of new credentials at a recent Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs conference. Chip D. Baumgardner, associate professor of business administration/management, was presented certificates acknowledging his status as an ACBSP certified mentor and as an ACBSP certified consultant.

Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Le Jeune Chef Restaurant – a live-learning lab for the college’s hospitality majors – is preparing to provide well over 15,000 meals for the teams who will participate in the 2024 Little League Baseball World Series. The crew will begin serving when the first teams arrive – several days before the first game is played on Aug. 14 – and will continue through the end of the series on Aug. 25.

Summer Camps brought the heat and hands-on happenings to 215 high school students, who experienced Pennsylvania College of Technology’s campuses and labs July 14-20. In addition to the home state, the overnight programs attracted students entering grades 9-12 from California, Connecticut, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Vermont, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

Representatives from Penn College’s brewing & fermentation science major were among those cheering summertime at the Selinsgrove Brewfest, held July 20 near downtown Selinsgrove. "It's great to have the opportunity to present student products to a large number of beer enthusiasts, as well as beer-curious folks,” said instructor Timothy L. Yarrington. “I welcome any opportunity to let people know about our brewing program and the successes of our grads."

This summer’s second week of My Tomorrow camp (July 8-12) rolled out a range of hands-on explorations for middle-schoolers. Sponsored by the Soars Family, Penn College’s interactive day camp engages students entering grades 6-8 in a variety of educational pathways sure to lead to promising tomorrows. Add in fun, food and friendship, and it’s an ideal combination for career considerations.

"Despite the heat, it was a wonderful day,” enthused Bryce W. Winder, coordinator of admissions events and communications, describing Saturday’s Open House at Pennsylvania College of Technology. “Our guests were amazing and brought the energy to campus." Winder reports that about 400 students and 1,200 guests were in attendance on the ultra-hot summer day. Their reward for braving the heat was the opportunity to view a lot of “cool stuff."
