October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the campus community is encouraged to show its support at the Penn College Pink Outs. The women's volleyball team, which held its second annual Pink Out Tie-Dye event Wednesday, didn't expect the crowd that showed up to helpheighten awareness.

Freshman Corey Teeple (Lake Ariel) was named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 18. Teeple shot a 74 on a par 72 to place first at the Penn State Mont Alto Invitational at Penn National Golf Course and help the Penn College golf team to the top spot. This is Teeple's first USCAA honor of the year and of his career.

The Penn College men's cross-country team was the literal cat's meow in competition Saturday, finishing first among nine teams "in the running" at Penn State Wilkes-Barre. All six Pennsylvania College of Technology fall sports teams saw action last week, and they combined for six wins, suffered two losses and ended with three ties. Flashback Cross-Country The Penn College men's team finished first in a nine-team field Saturday at Penn State Wilkes-Barre. Wildcat Travis Cain, of Bloomsburg, placed third over the 5.1-mile course in a time of 28 minutes, 30 seconds.

A year ago, Robert Kemrer was helping lead the Pennsylvania College of Technology coed tennis team to its third straight Penn State University Athletic Conference championship. Now, he is the team's coach. Kemrer, who captured conference championships at the No. 4 men's singles position in both 2007 and a year ago, succeeds Aimee Plastow, who resigned her position as coach after last season.

Three Pennsylvania College of Technology fall sports team already have begun their seasons and, this week, two more step into action. On Wednesday, the golf team opens its season in the Penn State Fayette Invitational at the Mystic Rocks course in Farmington and the women's soccer team plays at NCAA Division III Albright College.

The campus community enjoyed a full slate of sports Aug. 30, observing "Opening Day" for fall athletics before celebrating Pennsylvania College of Technology "Pack the Park Night" at Williamsport's historic Bowman Field.

Having struck "gold" in archery two years ago at the World University Games, Zachary Plannick had hopes of bringing home more medal when he left for China two weeks ago to compete in the 26th Summer Games. This time, he added silver and bronze.
