Pennsylvania College of Technology will present "Distinguished Alumnus" and "Alumna Achievement" awards at two commencement ceremonies May 18 at the Community Arts Center in Williamsport. Donald E. Stringfellow, a graduate of Penn College's Technology Management program and a 32-year veteran with PPL Electric Utilities, has been selected as the College's Distinguished Alumnus for 2002.

When the Office of Institutional Advancement at Pennsylvania College of Technology begins contacting alumni next month to update records and build support for the Annual Fund, the effort will link current students with former students of the College and its two predecessor institutions. The three- to four-week "Student/Alumni Outreach Phone-a-thon," which begins Feb.

Pennsylvania College of Technology is trying to locate "lost" graduates of the College and its predecessor institutions, Williamsport Area Community College and Williamsport Technical Institute. "We have over 27,000 alumni in our database, with more added every year," said Barbara A. Danko, Penn College's director of alumni relations.

Some Pennsylvania College of Technology alumni who were members of the Horticulture Technicians Association (Horticulture Club) when they attended the College's predecessor institution, Williamsport Area Community College, have donated $774.31 to the student organization.

The dean's list for the Summer 2001 session has been announced at Penn College. Those named to the list are full-time students who have earned a semester grade-point average of 3.5 or better. Alumni of the Williamsport Technical Institute, a forerunner of Pennsylvania College of Technology from 1941-65, will return to the College on June 19 for a day of reminiscing, renewing friendships and observing the many changes that have taken place on the Williamsport campus. Pennsylvania College of Technology recently hosted an alumni reception at Larson Design Group, a Lycoming County business that counts among its 156 employees some 56 people who are alumni of Penn College or its predecessor institutions: Williamsport Area Community College and Williamsport Technical Institute.

David W. Conklin of Montoursville has been chosen as Pennsylvania College of Technology's "Outstanding Alumnus" for 2001. Conklin received the award, which is presented by the Penn College Foundation and the Alumni Association, during commencement ceremonies held Saturday, May 19, at the Community Arts Center in Williamsport. Conklin is the president of C&I Boiler Repair Co. in Montoursville.
