Two more Pennsylvania College of Technology alumni have been state-certified as horticulturists on the basis of their performance in a recent four-part examination. Kurt M. Boyer, of Lebanon, and Karl F. Womer, of Bloomsburg both of whom recently graduated with associate degrees in landscape/nursery technology passed the Pennsylvania Certified Horticulturist test.

Sidey, trained as a chef, decided after several years of restaurant and catering management positions, to pursue his joy for coffee as a career. Two alumni from Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Hospitality will visit the college this month to talk with students about their jobs in unique hospitality niches. Shawn Sidey, who graduated in 1996 with a degree in food and hospitality management, will visit the college on Nov. 17. Sidey is a roasting supervisor for Starbucks Coffee Co.'s York Roasting Plant in York.
A Pennsylvania College of Technology culinary arts alumnus and in-demand creator of buffet showpieces will return to campus in October to share his expertise with students and alumni as part of the college's William C. Butler Lecture Series.
Brandon S. Sisino, of Cogan Station, whose Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award was announced last spring, was among those honored in a full-page advertisement in the publication Wednesday, Sept. 20. On Page R9 of that day's editions, Sisino was listed on a "Best in Class" honor roll congratulating all of the newspaper's 2006 award winners.
