Pennsylvania College of Technology has presented student achievement awards to its Summer 2023 graduates. A commencement ceremony was held Saturday, Aug. 5, at the Community Arts Center, Williamsport. Penn College is a special mission affiliate of Penn State.

Four students graduating in Saturday's Summer Commencement ceremony were celebrated the night before, during an Excellence in Student Leadership and Service Awards Ceremony in the Thompson Professional Development Center.

"Frustrating." "Eye-opening." "Informative." Those were a few of the responses following a two-hour "reentry simulation" held Tuesday at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Attended by more than 50 criminal justice professionals, the interactive activity created a month in the life of individuals recently released from prison.

Nearly 150 students have petitioned to graduate from Pennsylvania College of Technology following the Summer 2023 sessions.

A cross-curricular group of eight students and two faculty members recently traveled south for Komatsu Demo Days and a factory tour, hosted by one of Pennsylvania College of Technology's valued Corporate Tomorrow Makers.

Maxine Zglinicki needed to complete a senior project. Dr. John H. Bailey wanted a surgical tool redesigned. The recent Pennsylvania College of Technology graduate and local orthopedic surgeon teamed up to meet both objectives. Zglinicki, of Norristown, devoted a chunk of her final semester at the college to redesigning a tensioning device used with a robot for knee replacement surgery.

Jeffrey C. Comitz, who holds two HVAC degrees from Penn College, was recently spotlighted by his Greater Nanticoke Area High School alma mater through its "GNA Success Stories" feature on social media.

Many visitors drove many miles this past Sunday to view more than 100 works of art created by area artists. The reception for “100 Miles: The 2023 Regional Juried Exhibition” drew nearly 300 art lovers to The Gallery at Penn College, a crowd that included 90 of the 101 featured artists.

Alumni Andrew Zimmerman ('00, landscape/nursery technology) and his mom, June Kilgus Zimmerman, ('71, liberal arts) were among 853 climbers for Sunday's benefit ascent of the 104-story One World Trade Center that graces the Manhattan skyline.
