Sen. Roger A. Madigan, R-Bradford, has announced the awarding of a $15,000 grant to the Williamsport-Lycoming County Chapter of the National Flag Foundation. The grant supports the care and maintenance of the 30-by-60-foot American flag that flies above the city from Pennsylvania College of Technology's main campus entrance along Maynard Street in Williamsport.

Dr. Jacob R. Miller, associate professor of computer science in the School of Business and Computer Technologies at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has been included in the seventh edition of "Who's Who Among America's Teachers," a publication paying tribute to America's most respected educators. Miller was nominated for the award by a student.

Pennsylvania College of Technology golfers had their best showing in 20 years at the Pennsylvania Collegiate Athletic Association Championship. Matt Haile, a freshman from Shikellamy High School in Sunbury, finished second with rounds of 81-72 and Christian Scheller, a freshman from Moscow, ended fourth with rounds of 78-79 during action Monday and Tuesday on the Penn State Blue Course.

Acting on a recommendation from the Student Government Association, Information Technology Services and the Office of the Registrar have developed a student-directory search feature for the online Student Information System. After signing on to SIS, students soon will see an option to search a Web student directory by last name, first name, e-mail address or major.

Four Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball players have been awarded Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference postseason honors. Cited for their contributions during the recently completed season were pitchers Travis Pena (Williamsport), Ryan Weller (Fallston, Md.) and Andy Roth (Catasauqua) and outfielder Mike Daciw (Sun Valley). All four are freshmen.

Getting a head start on their college education will also mean saving money on tuition costs for students who take advantage of a new program approved Thursday by the Pennsylvania College of Technology Board of Directors.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's Board of Directors has awarded construction contracts totaling $7.33 million for renovations at the former HON manufacturing facility a project that will enable the College to create state-of-the-art instructional space for an additional 100 students.

When representatives of Allison Transmission, Division of General Motors, and Penn Detroit Diesel-Allison donated another $7,500 to Pennsylvania College of Technology recently, they also brought along something just as valuable: recognition of the College's Diesel Technology program as a training tool for industry technicians.
