Halloween arrived early at Penn College, where assorted members of the Wildcat "Boo!" crew satisfied sweet-tooth dreams and opened the door to their darker counterparts. Ushering in the shadowy midnight hour were Student Engagement's Fall Fest on Oct. 21 (moved indoors due to foul weather) and Wildcat Costume Party on Oct. 28, the American Welding Society student chapter's ghastly (and annually anticipated) Arc Asylum, and Residence Life's beloved Trick or Treat Night at The Village on Oct. 29.

A Thursday open house, overlapping with continuation of People & Culture's Engagement Series, combined to better acquaint students and employees with Penn College Police. The events provided a well-organized presentation of community resources, including the West Branch Drug and Alcohol Abuse Commission, Lycoming County Crisis Intervention Services, state Sen. Gene Yaw's office, the Student Government Association, the Williamsport bureaus of fire and police, and the city's Special Response Team.

For 25 years, a vintage Mack road tractor – appropriately nicknamed “Accelerated Learning" – has served as a rolling lab that continually reflects the latest industry technology available to diesel students at the Schneebeli Earth Science Center. Overcoming race-day adversity in championship fashion, the Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s cross-country team claimed its first conference title since 2012 on Saturday, while the college’s women’s soccer team posted a playoff shutout and advances to Tuesday’s 6 p.m. Volt Division semifinal at Penn State Harrisburg.

To celebrate National Physical Therapy Month, students in Penn College’s physical therapist assistant program are spreading the word about why individuals should choose physical therapy to decrease pain, increase mobility, maximize health and improve their quality of life. Every October, the American Physical Therapy Association celebrates National Physical Therapy Month to raise awareness with consumers about the many benefits of physical therapy.

Judd R. Pittman, director of the Pennsylvania Department of Education's Bureau of Career and Technical Education, visited Pennsylvania College of Technology while in Williamsport for a stakeholders meeting on Friday. A widely acknowledged advocate for K-12 career and technical education, Pittman toured campus with President Michael J. Reed and Loni N. Kline, senior vice president for college relations.

Pennsylvania College of Technology students posted a one-two finish in the Project MFG Maritime Welding Competition held Wednesday at the Philadelphia Shipyard. Patrick C. Evanko, of Columbus, New Jersey, placed first, and Nikolas J. Harnish, of Newmanstown, earned second-place honors after competing against 18 other welding students from other institutions.
