More than 200 high school students from throughout the state are preparing scores of mousetraps to capture honors, not mice, at Pennsylvania College of Technology this week. Instead of cheese, the students will rely on ingenuity to make effective use of mousetraps during Penn College's annual Mousetrap Racer Contest beginning at 8 a.m. Friday, Oct. 15, at the new Field House.

Greater access to campus and lasting evidence of the partnerships involved in its creation will be offered by Pennsylvania College of Technology's new main entrance, scheduled for dedication on Friday, Sept. 24. The 11 a.m.

With classes in full swing for the start of the 1999-2000 school year, Pennsylvania College of Technology continues to realize enrollment of historic heights. At the three-week mark in the fall semester, the traditional time for the official head count, 5,383 full- and part-time students are enrolled in credit classes at Penn College.

Low-income parents will have greater access to postsecondary education under a $31,200 grant recently announced by Vice President Al Gore that will expand fee subsidies and add a toddler program to the Children's Learning Center at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Dr. Edward (Ted) C. Nichols, assistant dean for Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus, has been nominated by the Combined Board of County Commissioners for Bradford, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga and Wyoming counties to serve on the regional Workforce Investment Board.

The first five graduates of Pennsylvania College of Technology's diesel technology/Mack emphasis major recently were honored by Mack Trucks, Inc. at its headquarters in Allentown. Penn College and Mack launched the diesel technology/Mack emphasis major in the fall of 1997.

A Pennsylvania College of Technology physician assistant student has been selected as the first recipient of a national scholarship from the Association of Physician Assistants in Oncology. Dan Gray, Danville, a senior in the College's B.S. degree physician assistant major, was presented $2,500 to be applied toward tuition, books or other expenses.

Pennsylvania College of Technology has been awarded $152,980 in state funding for continued operation of the combined New Choices/New Options program for the 1999-2000 academic year. A College match of $16,159 brings the total project funding to $169,138.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Transportation Technology will be honored as tops in the state during the Association for Career and Technical Education convention in Orlando, Fla., in December. Dean Colin W.
