Students and faculty logging into WebCT this fall will find a course titled "WebCT Student Tutorial" on their myWebCT login screens. This tutorial will provide an orientation to WebCT for distance-learning and on-campus students, and can serve as an on-demand reference to the basic functions of WebCT for students and faculty alike. Students can access WebCT here.

More than 500 new Penn College students started the day Saturday with the "Safari Breakfast" event. Students were served breakfast in the Susquehanna Room, then were invited to visit the BTC hallway, which had been transformed into a jungle/safari environment.

Students from a catering class in the School of Hospitality at Pennsylvania College of Technology will prepare food for the public at the Williamsport Outdoor Growers Market on Sept. 10. According to Chef Michael J. Ditchfield, instructor of food and hospitality management/culinary arts, the students will create a menu for the event based on the products available at the market.

Gilbert "Gibby" Balliet, a Pennsylvania College of Technology sophomore from Watsontown, shot a record 62 on the Vintage Course at the White Deer Golf Complex on Aug. 7. Witnessing Balliet's 10-under-par round was Ben Hameetman, son of Ruth E. Hameetman, an instructor of business administration at the college. Balliet's previous best on the course was a 67.

The Pennsylvania College of Technology Board of Directors on Thursday approved parameters for the college's 2006-07 state budget request. If the funds being sought are received, Penn College will not have to increase tuition in 2006-07, President Davie Jane Gilmour said.
