Graduating college students face new challenges in today's economy that include global competition for jobs and a constantly expanding array of technology, according to faculty in Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Industrial and Engineering Technologies.

The Lycoming County Paralegal Association is honoring one of its members by establishing a scholarship fund for legal assistant/paralegal students at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Students from the School of Construction and Design Technologies are displaying their knowledge and skill by creating an area of respite to be enjoyed by the Penn College community. A Remembrance Garden, designed in the college's architecture program and brought to life by students including Friday morning's BCT238 Concrete Construction class taught by Daniel L.

Seven members of the Pennsylvania College of Technology student chapter of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers participated in the 2006 Mini Baja Midwest competition which simulates real-world engineering-design projects and their related challenges and the group already is planning for the 2007 event.

Penn College students can help build scholarship opportunities by recycling their printer cartridges on campus. The recycling program, which recycles inkjet and laser cartridges, as well as empty fax cartridges, started in March. The empty cartridges are sent to the Cartridge World store at 1818 E Third St., and the proceeds are placed in Penn College's general scholarship fund.

The Gallery at Penn College, on the third floor of Pennsylvania College of Technology's new Roger and Peggy Madigan Library, will host "The Iconography of the Goddess," an exhibit of sculpture by David Hostetler, Oct. 3-29. An opening reception for the exhibit will take place Tuesday, Oct. 3, from 3:30 to 7 p.m., with a gallery talk scheduled at 5:30 p.m.

Students now can check their Meal Plan and Wildcat Plus balances online through the Student Information System . This option is located in the Services/Membership box in the lower-right corner of the main SIS page. The View/Manage function allows a student to look at transactions for a selected date range, along with checking current balances for the type of plan(s) he or she has.
