Shawn A. Kiser, director of dental hygiene at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was recently appointed as a consultant to the North East Regional Board of Dental Examiners. Kiser will serve as a member of a team of examiners whose responsibility is to determine clinical competency for dental hygiene candidates taking their licensure examination.

David L. Evans, a professor of biology at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was appointed public relations officer for the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society, the major professional society for teachers of anatomy and physiology in higher education.

Shawn Sidey, a 1996 Penn College graduate who earned degrees in culinary arts and food and hospitality management, returned to campus Nov. 17 to talk with students about coffee roasting. Sidey, trained as a chef, decided after several years of restaurant and catering management positions, to pursue his joy for coffee as a career. After managing three stores in a cafe chain called Brew HaHa!

A new Web-site design is the latest in a series of enhancements to marketing messages delivered by the college's noncredit Workforce Development& Continuing Education operation. The redesigned Web site was launched Friday; complementing new designs introduced earlier this fall in WDCE's course catalog, brochures and newspaper advertisements.

Online visitors to Penn College now will find a redesigned home page that features a highlighted photo, as well as video clips and visual representations of recently completed student projects all connections to our "degrees that work" marketing position. The redesign was developed by College Information & Community Relations' Web Development team.

Students from Penn College's nursing, paramedic and physician assistant majors traveled to fire departments and community centers across the county from Waterville to Hughesville this week to provide free flu shots to area residents.

Penn College Human Service students held their Ten Thousand Villages Fair on Thursday and Friday in the CC Lobby. All proceeds from the sale which includes jewelry, baskets and many other unique and handmade items went to the crafters of Ten Thousand Villages, a fair-trade organization working with underdeveloped countries.
