Program Director Named Consultant for Dental Examiners Board

Shawn A. KiserShawn A. Kiser, director of dental hygiene at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was recently appointed as a consultant to the North East Regional Board of Dental Examiners.

Kiser will serve as a member of a team of examiners whose responsibility is to determine clinical competency for dental hygiene candidates taking their licensure examination.

Kiser began working as an adjunct faculty member at Penn College in 1998 while working as a full-time dental hygienist for the state Department of Corrections. He became a full-time faculty member at the college in 2000, coordinator of dental hygiene in 2001 and director of dental hygiene in 2005.

Kiser also worked at the University of Maryland Dental School in Baltimore and in private practice for several years. He earned associate and bachelor's degrees from Penn College and his master's degree from The Pennsylvania State University. He earned a graduate certificate in distance education and is a graduate of the American Dental Education Association Allied Dental Leadership Program.

Kiser is a member of the American Dental Education Association and the American Dental Hygienists' Association.
