A longtime adjunct faculty member and college alumna was recently honored with a national American Cancer Society award for her work with cancer patients and their families. June Kilgus Zimmerman, an oncology social worker at UPMC Susquehanna’s Cancer Center, received the ACS Lane W. Adams Quality of Life Award at a ceremony last month in Atlanta.

A $3,000 gift from PPL will help to support Pennsylvania College of Technology programs that provide innovative educational experiences to hundreds of Pennsylvania high school students. The gift will benefit the college’s Penn College NOW dual-enrollment program and SMART Girls summer camp.

Pennsylvania College of Technology personnel are teaming up with MANTEC, a leading consultant to manufacturers in Southcentral Pennsylvania, for four sessions at next month’s fifth Business Growth Conference in Lancaster County. The conference will be from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. March 30 at the Spooky Nook Sports complex, 75 Champ Blvd., Manheim.

An endowed scholarship benefiting veterans attending Pennsylvania College of Technology was recently established by an alumnus – who is also an Air Force veteran and college employee – and his wife. The Marlin and Brenda Cromley Veteran Scholarship will benefit veterans having completed at least one year at Penn College with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Free dental care – including sealants, fluoride varnish treatments, education and screenings – will be available to children ages 7-15 on Saturday, March 25, when Pennsylvania College of Technology will be a host site for the Pennsylvania Dental Hygienists’ Association’s Sealant Saturday initiative. Sealant Saturday events are held across the state. The Penn College event will take place 9 a.m.
