Variety of Continuing Education Courses Coming to St. Marys

Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology continues its outreach to northern Pennsylvania with a variety of courses this season.
Among classes scheduled in the coming weeks at the Community Education Center of Elk and Cameron Counties, 4 Erie Ave., St. Marys, are:
Enhancing Client Relationship Skills: Creating Win-Win Solutions (BSM 344)
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, March 10
This intensive course is for technical specialists, product leaders, service providers, customer relationship representatives, business owners and others who desire to build their salesmanship competence.
The first session, Developing Your Selling Advantage, will focus on knowing your product or service; understanding client needs; developing win-win solutions; understanding buyer influences; cross-selling and upselling; forecasting, planning, and prospecting for clients; prioritizing time; knowing your competition; and promoting innovation and new product initiatives.
Session Two, Building Advanced Sales Skills, includes enhancing communication and interpersonal selling skills; identifying the decision maker; honing negotiation and influence skills; framing client expectations; using technology to boost the pipeline and track results; resolving sales and interpersonal conflicts; providing excellent service; and managing client relationships and projects.
Front Line Supervisor: Supervisory Fundamentals (LDR 100)
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, March 14 and 21
This course provides the elemental aspects of supervision, segmented into four modules: Understanding Supervisory Roles and Functions, Fostering Communication, Building Interpersonal Relationships, and Promoting Contemporary Leadership Practices. Upon completion, participants will understand the skills and competencies associated with being a supervisor; explore key elements of the communication process and effectively apply these concepts; examine how to build effective interpersonal relationships by understanding themselves and others better; and identify the characteristics, approaches and styles of effective leaders.
Front Line Supervisor: Performance Management (LDR 110)
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, April 11 and 18
This course covers the basic concepts of performance management, segmented into four modules: Creating a Climate of Motivation and Engagement; Shaping Performance Expectations; Developing Performance Coaching Techniques; and Addressing Difficult Performance Situations. Upon completion, participants will understand the elements of supervising for excellent performance, develop capacity to create effective performance expectations, improve coaching skills, and be able to address difficult performance situations.
Blueprint Reading (INT 735)
8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, March 7 and 8
Blueprint Reading is intended for all personnel who need to understand the meaning of drawings/prints. Emphasis is placed on understanding multiview relationships, symbology, and conventional dimensioning and tolerancing methods. Numerous exercises involving the reading of prints will be utilized throughout. Participants are encouraged to bring their own prints for discussion.
Fundamentals of GD&T (INT 736)
8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, April 4 and 5
This course is designed to allow participants to learn the symbols, terminology and rules of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing as prescribed in the current standard (ASME Y14.5-2009). Participants will understand the importance of GD&T in relation to traditional coordinate tolerancing, and understand what GD&T is (along with datums, form, orientation, profile, position/symmetry and coaxial features).
