The collision repair department recently hosted Car-O-Liner frame-equipment training on a newly purchased frame rack and Car-O-Tronic computerized measuring system. "Car-O-Liner Bob" Warren and his son, Nick, were on campus Sept. 14-15 to provide 16 hours of training for collision repair instructors Stephen T. Duna and Roy H. Klinger.

William A. Rutkowski, a junior at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was named the first recipient of the Brian E. Liles Memorial Scholarship. Rutkowski, Dickson City, is pursuing a bachelor's degree in plastics and polymer engineering technology.

Adam C. Barilla, a sophomore in the plastics and polymer engineering technology major at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was named the recipient of the Frazier Family Scholarship for Fall 2005. Barilla, of Strong, carries a 3.91 grade-point average and is a member of Penn College's student chapter of the Society of Plastics Engineers.

The School of Hospitality at Pennsylvania College of Technology raised $1,500 recently through a "Gumbo for a Cause" sale to benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina. In honor of the flooded area, Mary G.

On Oct. 11-13, the Weatherization Training Center at Pennsylvania College of Technology will conduct a tutorial on weatherizing mobile homes. Registered participants representing nonprofit weatherization providers in Pennsylvania will be shown methods and techniques to make such homes more comfortable and energy-efficient for their clients.

Penn College students have free access to the YWCA (815 W. Fourth St.) with a valid student ID. This includes access to the warm-water pool and the Y's small weight room, which includes a few weight machines, an exercise bike, limited free weights, a speed bag and a punching bag. In addition, free coupon books are available to all Penn College students, courtesy of the YWCA.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus Outreach Practical Nursing Program near Wellsboro has added a class of nursing students from the Potter County region. Fifteen students from Coudersport, Austin, Roulette, Westfield, Genessee, North Bingham and Galeton began classes Sept. 12. The 1,504-hour program is fully approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus, located just east of Wellsboro on Route 6, will offer a beginning medical terminology class for those who are interested in developing the ability to read and understand the language of medicine. The course will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, from Oct. 4 to Nov. 8.

Students in the School of Hospitality's introduction to baking class recently sent cookies they made in class to soldiers from the Williamsport-based National Guard unit who are currently serving in Iraq. Students in the introduction to baking class at Pennsylvania College of Technology learn about the effects ingredients have on the consistency, texture and flavor of cookies.
