A mathematics professor at Pennsylvania College of Technology was invited by two Chinese institutes of higher education to give presentations this summer. On June 27, William Ma offered a talk titled "Hyperbolic metric in geometric function theory" at Beihang University in Beijing. On July 22, he presented "Hyperbolic metric and convex functions" at Yulin College in Yulin.

Fifteen-passenger van safety training classes are scheduled from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Oct. 11 and Nov. 8 in the atrium of the General Services Building on Reach Road. If you will need to operate one of the 15-passenger vans, you must take this certification class if you have not been previously certified.

Asesh K. Das, professor of information technology in Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Business and Computer Technologies, recently was nominated by former students to be included in the 11th edition of "Who's Who Among America's Teachers." "(It's a) great, deep honor for a teacher," said Das, who continues as a multiple-year nominee, having been honored annually since 2004.

This fun, noncredit class is for seniors, age 60 and older, who would like to use the typewriter or computer keyboard to type personal correspondence with accuracy.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's computer aided drafting technology major recently was recertified by the American Design Drafting Association. ADDA, an organization for designers, drafters, architects, illustrators and technical artists, provides certification to recognize schools whose design/drafting curriculum meets its established and approved standards.
