Thursday, August 23, 2007
Asesh K. Das, professor of information technology in Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Business and Computer Technologies, recently was nominated by former students to be included in the 11th edition of "Who's Who Among America's Teachers."
"(It's a) great, deep honor for a teacher," said Das, who continues as a multiple-year nominee, having been honored annually since 2004.
Das has been a member of the Penn College faculty since 1994. He holds a doctorate from Visva-Bharati University, earned master's degrees from Bengal University and the Florida Institute of Technology, and has a bachelor's degree from Calcutta University.
Since 1990, "Who's Who Among America's Teachers" has celebrated teachers, coaches or other adult leaders for their leadership, inspiration and demand for excellence, as nominated by students from "Who's Who Among American High School Students," "Who's Who Among American High School Students Sports Edition" and "The National Dean's List."
Only 5 percent of the nation's teachers are honored each year, and fewer than 2 percent are included in multiple editions. The 11th edition of "Who's Who Among America's Teachers" will be published this fall.
