The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, in which Pennsylvania College of Technology students prepare income-tax returns at no cost, will offer three Fridays of by-appointment-only help to Northern Tier residents this season. The program will be offered from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 20, March 20 and April 3 at Penn College's North Campus, along Route 6 between Wellsboro and Mansfield.
The first meeting of the Marcellus Shale Industry Partnership, formed to address the natural-gas industry's workforce needs in conjunction with the exploration of potential gas reserves within the region's Marcellus Shale formation, was held Monday on Pennsylvania College of Technology's main campus.

Penn College's Student Government Association greets the spring semester with the "SGA News," a regular compilation of information to its campus audience. A free workshop to help families and counselors understand how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be offered Saturday, Feb. 14, at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The workshop will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at 12:30 p.m. in Room 1049 of the Student and Administrative Services Center.
Two dozen students from area high schools and vocational-technical institutions were on the Penn College campus for regional SkillsUSA competition Friday, hoping to earn a spot in the state contest April 1-3 (and, ultimately, in the National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City, Mo., from June 22-26).
