Notable students and on-campus programming for March have been announced by Pennsylvania College of Technology's Residence Life Office. Selected as the Rising Star of the Month was Robert J. Lamb, a welding and fabrication engineering major from Lansing, N.Y., and a Resident Assistant in York Hall.
Seven Pennsylvania College of Technology students recently presented research during a student poster session at the Mid-Atlantic Consortium for Human Services annual conference. The students, in their final semester toward earning bachelor's degrees in applied human services, made up the majority of the 12 student poster presenters at the conference, held April 1-3 at Corning Community College.

From April 29 to May 13, The Gallery at Penn College, on the third floor of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Madigan Library, will host "Design: 2011," a portfolio exhibition by seniors in the college's graphic design major. A culminating project of their college curriculum, the students' annual exhibition will feature posters, books, magazine spreads and logos.
Invasive species such as autumn olive, exotic honeysuckle and ailanthus know no boundaries as where to take root. Thanks to a combined effort by the Pennsylvania Game Commission, Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and Pennsylvania College of Technology forestry students, fewer invasives are likely to survive on State Game Lands #252 near the Schneebeli Earth Science Center.
A group of Pennsylvania College of Technology students contributed to The Pennsylvania State University Advanced Vehicle Team's EcoCar by producing custom brake rotors for the vehicle. The team, made up of Penn State students, is producing a hybrid vehicle for EcoCAR: The NeXt Challenge.
Penn College construction management students finished second overall and brought home first-place honors in the Project Management category among 24 teams in last week's Associated Builders and Contractors Student Chapter Construction Management Competition in San Antonio. Pennsylvania College of Technology finished third overall, and 10 of its students placed in their respective events during the Mid-Atlantic Woodsman's Meet at Penn State Mont Alto. "It was definitely an opportunity that the students will never forget," said Erich R. Doebler, laboratory assistant for forest technology in the college's School of Natural Resources Management.

A Pennsylvania College of Technology student was awarded The Pennsylvania State University's 2011 Achieving Women Award for her work at Penn State Schuylkill. Penny K. Shade, of Schuylkill Haven, works in Penn State Schuylkill's Hidden Stream and oversees the campus's catering service. She also is pursuing a bachelor's degree in culinary arts and systems from Penn College.
