Three Pennsylvania College of Technology students were among the medalists at SkillsUSA's 47th annual National Leadership and Skills Conference held June 19-24 in Kansas City, Mo. Placing third in their respective events were Aaron C. Dressler, Mount Pleasant Mills, Automotive Refinishing; Micah E. Hoover, Souderton, Welding; and Lewis D. Robinson, Bellefonte, Culinary Arts.

The state budget signed late Thursday by Gov. Tom Corbett includes more funding than anticipated for Pennsylvania College of Technology. Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour had said that, if the governor signed the budget as submitted, the bulk of the fundswould help the college reduce the 2011-12 tuition increase for students to 2.99 percent.

Pennsylvania College of Technology students garnered 11 awards including Best of Show in the International Graphic Arts Educators' 2010 Gutenberg Awards competition. The awards, announced in May, recognize exceptional achievement in the field of graphic arts by students in various levels of education. Awards are available for printed items, websites and photographs.

With the vehicle's original owner present and blessed with tangible encouragement from some serious antique-automobile enthusiasts, a 1978 Pontiac Firebird Esprit restored by students in Penn College's School of Transportation Technology was returned to the Antique Automobile Club of America Museum on Saturday.

Pennsylvania College of Technology, in conjunction with the Penn State University Athletic Conference, has announced the recipients of the Winter/Spring 2010-11 All-Academic Team award. The award is given to student-athletes with a grade-point average of 3.0 or better in the semester of competition (basketball is an average of both the fall and spring semester grades).
