A Pennsylvania College of Technology freshman welding student has received two scholarships from the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut. Josiah A. Hinojos, of Groton, Connecticut, received the Skip Thavenet and John Boyle Memorial scholarships. He is seeking a bachelor’s degree in in welding & fabrication engineering technology.

A Pennsylvania College of Technology welding student is one of four individuals in North America to receive a scholarship from the world’s largest small-quantity metal supplier. Metal Supermarkets recently awarded a $2,500 scholarship to Alaina S. Myers, of Hanover. A Dean’s List student, Myers is seeking a bachelor’s degree in welding & fabrication engineering technology.

Jeffrey L. Erdly, originator of two Pennsylvania College of Technology scholarships and recipient of the college's Distinguished Alumnus Award, has boosted his institutional support with a gift of $500,000 toward an upcoming project on campus. Half of the donation is designated for an endowment that can be used for program materials, scholarships and more; the remaining $250,000 is earmarked for the creation of a materials library at the Carl Building Technologies Center.

Phi Theta Kappa has named a Pennsylvania College of Technology student as a 2024 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar. Leo W. Cooke, of Easton, is one of 210 Phi Theta Kappa members to receive the honor and the accompanying $1,000 scholarship. Cooke is seeking an associate degree in automated manufacturing technology.

The August 2024 issue of Avionics News features an article on Pennsylvania College of Technology alumna and Air Force veteran Alicia “Marti” Martinez. Titled “Taking an Active Role in Learning,” the profile was written by retired aviation faculty member Thomas D. Inman and showcases Martinez’s enthusiasm for her academics and extracurricular activities.

A Pennsylvania College of Technology student is one of 20 individuals nationwide to receive a scholarship from a foundation that champions skilled trade careers in automotive restoration. The Piston Foundation named Connor M. Hecei, of Warren, as one of its Piston Scholars for the Fall 2024 semester. The scholarship is worth up to $5,000, based on financial need.

A foundation supporting packaging and processing education throughout North America has awarded a $5,000 scholarship to a Pennsylvania College of Technology polymer engineering student.

Thanks to the recent Student Government Association Auction, three Penn College students have received Student Leader Legacy Scholarships. The annual SGA Auction raised approximately $3,500, and three students were awarded $1,200 each. Over 70 supporters placed online bids or donated directly to the endowed scholarship fund.

Laura A. Snyder, of Harrisburg, a landscape/plant production technology student at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was awarded a $4,500 Pennsylvania Landscape & Nursery Association Foundation Scholarship. Snyder received her award at the PLNA 120th Anniversary Celebration & Education Summit, held recently at Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square.

A manufacturer of fiber optic and copper network cabling has endowed a scholarship at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Leviton recently presented the college with a $25,000 gift to establish the scholarship. The donation places the company – a Corporate Tomorrow Maker – in the Ambassadors Society ($25,000-$49,999) on the college’s Donor Wall.
