In a time-honored tradition ushering in Wildcat Weekend, the Veterans’ Fountain on Pennsylvania College of Technology’s main campus mall has been dyed an appealing shade of “Wildcat blue” by representatives of the Student Government Association.

Two "pop-up" employer information tables are lined up this week, seeking welding, electrical and electronics & computer engineering technology students. Bolstering its student support services, Penn College is offering a free and innovative mental health service to its students – TalkCampus. TalkCampus is a global peer-support platform designed for students, offering round-the-clock support. Accessible on both mobile and desktop, the mental health app ensures continuous access to care for students in need. TalkCampus provides an all-encompassing solution that integrates online peer support with real-time crisis management by professional staff.

A new initiative to increase visibility has been implemented by Penn College Police: the use of “cruise lights” on top of patrol vehicles. Cruise lights are dimmer than emergency lights and do not flash. Only the red and blue lights on the ends of the vehicle’s rooftop light bar are on.

Pennsylvania College of Technology alumnus and illustrator Brian Lutz is coming full circle, opening the 2024-25 season at The Gallery at Penn College. The artist’s “Full Circle” exhibit, illustrating his professional journey, runs through Oct. 4. On Tuesday, Sept. 10, Lutz will speak at a 3:30 p.m. lecture in Penn’s Inn and a 5 p.m. reception in the gallery. He will also engage with students and faculty in two Illustration classes.

The Penn College community rolled out the Wildcat welcome carpet over the past few days, greeting first-year and returning students for the 2024-25 academic year. From Wednesday's move-in for the newest members of the Wildcat family through Monday morning's free coffee and advocacy outreach designed to ease those first-day worries, the campus teemed with an array of offerings to orient and entertain students.

On the Division III map after making big strides over the past year, including three team championships, Pennsylvania College of Technology is set to enter its 11th season as a member of the United East Conference and eighth season as a full-fledged member of the NCAA. As students returned to the campus over the last few days, student-athletes are excited to get back to work on their field of dreams.

And so it begins: the Fall 2024 semester at Pennsylvania College of Technology! It was a wild Wildcat Wednesday as first-year students moved into their residence halls with an eager assist from many happy helpers. After all the unpacking, the coming days are packed with fun and informative activities to ring in the new academic year.
