Working together to get the job done and lift up others: That seems to be a reoccurring theme as we reach the conclusion of “Give Thanks, Paw it Forward” week.
The final “Makers” profile to be shared as part of this annual thankfulness celebration is that of James C. Fretz, a construction management student from Collegeville.
Fretz has expressed his gratitude for the support he has received from faculty, industry, Career Services, fellow students, alumni and donors. He’s the recipient of a Construction Management Advisory Committee Scholarship, and he was among 21 students who engaged in a global outreach adventure to make life healthier for others.
“I am proud of being a part of the 2023 GLB 229 class (Cultural Immersion & Service Learning),” Fretz shared. “We went to the Dominican Republic. Everyone was there to work and get the job done to build a house for a family. Before we traveled there, we raised money to purchase water filters to distribute, too. In a nation where 3,500 people a week seek emergency treatment for bacterial infection, I knew we were making a sustainable difference. We all had a clear view of the goal, and all the team members were looking to achieve it.”
The campus community is grateful for the outreach and efforts of others on the Penn College team. A big Wildcat “Thank you” and “Happy Thanksgiving” to all! #pctgrateful
