Dr. William B. Urosevich, associate professor of biology at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has been named the United States Army Reserve Optometry Consultant to the Surgeon General of the Army. Urosevich has been involved in Army optometry since 1983. He was the co-developer of the first Army optometry residency program at West Point.

A number of Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty and staff recently have been in the news for a variety of accomplishments. James T. Gugino, video engineer/editor, worked as a camera operator with World Sports Enterprises during the recent Pennsylvania 400 and ARCA 200 NASCAR races at Pocono International Raceway. Gugino also provided technical support for in-car cameras.

Larry L. Michael, associate dean for the Technology Transfer Center and Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Ben Franklin Technology Center of Central and Northern Pennsylvania. Michael has been with Penn College's Technology Transfer Center since 1990.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's Food Services Department captured second and third places in the 25th annual National Association of College and University Food Services Dining Awards Contest.

Fifteen faculty members at Pennsylvania College of Technology have earned promotions in academic rank.

Dr. Davie Jane Gilmour has been named president of Pennsylvania College of Technology, an affiliate of The Pennsylvania State University and Pennsylvania's premier technical college. Her appointment was made following a unanimous vote by Penn College's Board of Directors.

Pennsylvania College of Technology conducted its annual Employee Recognition Week during the week of May 11. A highlight was a special reception honoring recipients of the Distinguished Staff Awards, new members of the College's Quarter Century Club, retirees and recipients of the Part-Time Teaching Excellence Awards.

Pennsylvania College of Technology is taking the lead in a National Science Foundation project aimed at enhancing plastics technology education.
