The Workforce and Economic Development Network of Pennsylvania (WEDnetPA), an organization created to strengthen the statewide business environment and provide Guaranteed Free Training to Pennsylvania companies, is marking 10 years of success. WEDnetPA is managed by Pennsylvania College of Technology, a special mission affiliate of The Pennsylvania State University.

The Gallery at Penn College held an opening reception and gallery talk Tuesday evening for the student portfolio exhibit on display through May 7. Sixteen students areshowing more than 160 pieces of work they created while earning bachelor's degrees in graphic design. Despite at-times-gloomy weather that prompted its move into the Field House, the 10th-anniversary edition of WEBStock the Wildcat Events Board's traditional end-of-semester celebration of fun, food and music was a success. An estimated 400 students attended over the four-hour period, enjoying the music of three bands and the added attractions.

The Penn College colony of Sigma Nu held a fundraising Spring Car Show on campus Saturday, with music, food, sunshine and more than 50 vehicles showcased on the BTC parking lot. Proceeds from the fraternity's inaugural event will benefit the Sigma Nu Leadership Initiatives Fund, which sponsors campus leadership events for all students; trophies were awarded in 19 classes.

Wednesday's final Red Cross Bloodmobile of the year was the most successful in Penn College history. Caring faculty/staff and students showed the true giving nature of those on campus, said Carl L. Shaner, Student Health Services director. Two-hundred pints were collected exceeding the previous record of 181 and certainly helping to alleviate low blood supplies throughout the region.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's 2008-09 Student Activities Awards banquet, a night "filled with rewards, recognition and flavorsome food" dedicated to student leaders and organizations, was held Wednesday in Penn's Inn. The evening included awarding of a $1,000 Student Leadership Legacy Scholarship to Justin A. Ball, of Sandy Ridge, a business administration: management major.

Seven-time PGA Tour winner Joey Sindelar will be the visiting pro at the Pennsylvania College of Technology Foundation's 23rd Annual Spring Golf Classic on Monday, May 11, at the Williamsport Country Club. Net proceeds from the event will benefit the Penn College Foundation Golf Classic Scholarship.

The Madigan Library held its first-ever Saturday night event this past weekend: Mixed Nuts Casino IV! The event was sponsored by the library, Student Activities Office and two student clubs: ACM and Film Hounds. More than 30 students were in the library which stayed open late for the event enjoying poker, blackjack, Scrabble and Xbox 360.

The Baking and Pastry Applications Class, the students responsible for the popular campus bake sales throughout the year, completed a semester-ending "trade show" project in the Susquehanna Room from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday. The show was a presentation of pastry product development, merchandising and marketing techniques, according to Chef Monica J.

A total of 23 teams comprising 154 people took part in Saturday's Walk-It-Out event, helping to raise $5,724 for the American Cancer Society. Food, games and camaraderie complemented the day's main activity, a mini-Relay for Life held on the Madigan Library Lawn.
