Prospective students and their families can discover the diverse “degrees that work” offered by Pennsylvania College of Technology and explore campus life when the college holds an Open House on Saturday, March 29. A full slate of activities and tours will be offered during Open House, which takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the main campus in Williamsport.

Pioneering computer scientist and bestselling author Jaron Lanier – the man who coined the phrase “virtual reality” – will speak at Pennsylvania College of Technology on March 17 as part of its Centennial Colloquia Series. Lanier founded VPL Research, the first company to sell virtual-reality products, and led teams creating VR applications for medicine, design and numerous other fields.

Switchfoot, a 2011 Grammy Award winner for Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album, continued its month-old winter tour with a Thursday gig at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Marking the college's yearlong centennial – and the recent release of its "Fading West" album – the quintet was joined by the Kopecky Family Band for a performance in the college's Bardo Gymnasium.

Pennsylvania College of Technology will host a Science Festival on Tuesday, Feb. 25, sponsored by the college and Technology Futures of North Central PA. The event, scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Penn College Field House, provides a variety of fun, hands-on math and science demonstrations geared toward elementary and middle school students, as well as their families.
