While the fall tennis season came to a close last week for Pennsylvania College of Technology, both the men’s and women’s soccer teams recorded United East victories and cross-country runners looked strong in a race leading to the conference championships.
Wins by the women’s soccer and men’s tennis teams and United East recognition for two individuals were highlights for Pennsylvania College of Technology athletes last week.
Thomas A. Zimmerman, retired associate professor of psychology and faculty athletic representative, has been approved for emeritus status by the Pennsylvania College of Technology Board of Directors. Zimmerman taught psychology full time at Penn College and its immediate predecessor, Williamsport Area Community College, since 1984, retiring in August 2021.
It was a great week for four Pennsylvania College of Technology fall sports athletes as one medaled in a golf tournament, two were named United East Conference Players of the Week and one was honored as the UE Runner of the Week.
For the first time since 2017, a Pennsylvania College of Technology cross-country runner finished first in a race, while the college’s men’s and women’s soccer teams both posted United East Conference wins.

Stepping into United East Conference play for the first time this season, Pennsylvania College of Technology soccer teams split on Saturday, while the golf team closed out the week with a second-place finish in a 13-team invitational.
The last of the Pennsylvania College of Technology fall sports teams is scheduled to get underway this week when the men’s golf team swings into action Wednesday in the Elizabethtown College Fall Invitational at Hershey Country Club East. Also this week, the men’s and women’s soccer teams open United East Conference play Saturday on the road.
Five Pennsylvania College of Technology fall sports teams are underway and three more will join their ranks this week when men’s and women’s tennis and esports seasons begin. ON THE HORIZON Men’s/women’s tennis Five returning players – three men and two women – form the nucleus of coach Jessica Bower’s teams that open Friday at Misericordia University.
Five Pennsylvania College of Technology sports teams are scheduled to get underway this week. Starting their seasons at home on Thursday are the men’s and women’s soccer teams (the women host King’s College at 4:30 p.m. and the men entertain Keystone College at 7 p.m., both at UPMC Field). The women’s volleyball team travels to Lycoming College for a 5 p.m.
