After his team won its final game of the season to complete a 12-12 campaign, Pennsylvania College of Technology third-year women's basketball coach Jeff Chamberlin termed the campaign "a stepping stone" to the future.
The Pennsylvania College of Technology men's basketball team set a modern school record by winning its 14th game Sunday, but there was little time for celebrating. Coach Gene Bruno immediately began focusing on his team's next task at hand, hosting Stevens State in a first round game of the Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference playoffs. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
An open forum and panel discussion on how the recession, the Sept. 11 tragedy, NAFTA and the European Union have affected job availability in the United States and in the global economy will be presented March 6 at Pennsylvania College of Technology. "As the World Turns Since 9/11-Jobs in a Global Economy" will be offered from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
A poster, a public television show, a television ad and a magazine produced by Pennsylvania College of Technology earned awards recently in a national competition sponsored by Admissions Marketing Report magazine.
William C. Brownlee and Katie L. Spoerke have been chosen as the 2002 Homecoming King and Queen at Pennsylvania College of Technology, helping to raise $954 for charity in the process. Penn College students voted for Homecoming King and Queen by placing money in the jars of their favorite candidates among 23 nominees. The jars were placed at the information desk of the Bush Campus Center.
A student in the School of Business and Computer Technologies at Pennsylvania College of Technology is among 100 semifinalists at colleges and universities in North America competing for cash and scholarship awards in Microsoft's ".NET Best Student Awards 2001." Thomas M.
"Erasing Stereotypes" will be the focus of a panel discussion to be held Feb. 18 at the Pennsylvania College of Technology Library. The program, which is being sponsored by the library and the African Student Association in celebration of Black History Month, will feature discussion of stereotypes and ethnic diversity by Penn College students and community members. The event will begin at 6 p.m.
When the Office of Institutional Advancement at Pennsylvania College of Technology begins contacting alumni next month to update records and build support for the Annual Fund, the effort will link current students with former students of the College and its two predecessor institutions. The three- to four-week "Student/Alumni Outreach Phone-a-thon," which begins Feb.
Bud Neidig says Pennsylvania College of Technology is one of the few schools turning out qualified workers for the paving industry, so, when the College needed some paving equipment for student instruction, Neidig was eager to lend a hand.
The fight for women's rights often has taken place in the courtroom, and some of those courtroom battles will be recounted March 21 when the Pennsylvania College of Technology Library celebrates Women's History Month by presenting "Women on Trial." Susan B. Anthony was arrested and tried for voting. Margaret Sanger was put on trial for daring to promote birth control for married women.
