Pennsylvania College of Technology and Caterpillar Inc. have presented the third annual "Pathfinder to Excellence" faculty award to an instructor of diesel equipment technology. David C. Johnson was presented with the award during a recent gathering of Caterpillar officials and dealers − several Penn College alumni among them − in the college's Professional Development Center.

The Council of Eastern Forest Technician Schools will hold its 2005 annual meeting at Pennsylvania College of Technology's Schneebeli Earth Science Center next month, combining business with tours of the college's campuses and attractions throughout "Penn's Woods." The council, which represents schools offering two-year forest technology majors, will convene here from Aug. 3-6.

A Pennsylvania College of Technology alumnus has established a memorial scholarship to benefit diesel technology students at the college. Harold Sinclair, president of Woolever Brothers Transportation Inc., Montoursville, established the $1,000 annual scholarship in memory of his late wife, Hazel.

Tuition payments may be made online through Penn College's Student Information System Web site beginning with the Fall 2005 semester. Students will be required to log in to the SIS and select "View Statement of Account" in the Financial Information section in order to complete their online tuition payment. Credit cards accepted are VISA, MasterCard and Discover.

Alfred M. Thomas, an associate professor of collision repair at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently earned the professional designation of Certified Collision Repair Manager from the Masters School of Autobody Management in Santa Barbara, Calif.

In a special meeting Saturday, Pennsylvania College of Technology's Board of Directors approved an operating budget of $79,372,591 and set tuition rates for the 2005-06 academic year. The operating budget represents a 7.09-percent increase over 2004-05. Tuition for Pennsylvania residents, who constitute 91.6 percent of the college's enrollment, will rise by 5.9 percent.

Four students at Pennsylvania College of Technology have been awarded scholarships for Fall 2005 from the Williamsport Hospital Campus of Susquehanna Health System. Steven H. Wallace, a U.S. Military Academy graduate with more than 11 years of experience in higher-education administration, has been named Pennsylvania College of Technology's first-ever assistant dean of transportation technology.

Six students from Pennsylvania College of Technology's chapter of Phi Beta Lambda attended last week's National Leadership Conference and Competition in Orlando, Fla., four of them receiving national awards for their performance in several competitive events. Alicia M.

Students from Mexico, along with their faculty adviser, are at Penn College this month, nearing an end to their monthlong trip to the campus. Four students made the trip. All are enrolled in five-year engineering majors at the Toluca campus of Instituto Tecnologico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey.
