A memorial service will be Saturday for Mark E. Meister II, 18, of Sunbury, a Penn College student in the automotive technology/Ford ASSET major who died from injuries suffered in a vehicle crash Sunday night in Upper Augusta Township, Northumberland County. A brick will be placed in his honor in the Remembrance Garden, and Penn College flags were lowered to half-staff.
Pennsylvania College of Technology has established a new society The Pillar Society to recognize supporters who have included Penn College or the Penn College Foundation in their long-term giving plans. The Disc Jocks, Penn College's Ultimate Frisbee team, competed in a tournament this past weekend at F.M. Kirby Park in Kingston. The Jocks were 5-4 over the two-day event, which gave them a fifth-place finish in the 10-team field, according to adviser Kirk M. Cantor. The winning team was from Clarkson (N.Y.) University.
Going into Sunday's conference finals, Bambi Hawkins, Pennsylvania College of Technology women's volleyball coach, was concerned that Penn State Fayette's strength of schedule in the highly competitive Western Division would work to its advantage. A gift from a Pittsburgh couple to Pennsylvania College of Technology has created The Gallery at Penn College's first permanent collection. Michael Stuhldreher and Carol Totten donated a collection of African art that includes about 20 pieces, as well as art books that correspond to the region and time the works represent.
