College Employee Named to Accreditation Review Team

Friday, November 3, 2006

Jeremiah C. GeeJeremiah C. Gee, assessment coordinator for Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Integrated Studies, was recently named a peer reviewer for the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

As a peer reviewer, Gee will review assessment plans and self-studies from institutions seeking NAEYC accreditation and will be part of a team of site visitors to the institutions.

NAEYC offers accreditation for early-childhood education providers and for degree programs that prepare students to become early-childhood educators. Penn College's child-care facility, The Children's Learning Center, is accredited through NAEYC, and the college plans to seek accreditation for its associate degree in early childhood education. Having previously offered accreditation for bachelor's and graduate degrees, the association began offering accreditation for associate degrees this year.

NAEYC is recognized as an accrediting body by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Gee became associated with NAEYC when, as a graduate assistant at Mansfield University, he helped the university earn NAEYC accreditation for its early-childhood education major.

Gee earned a master's degree in education at Mansfield University and a bachelor's degree in psychology from Nyack College Manhattan Center.
