Study of geological origin of soils as well as minerals, rocks, rock structure, weathering, glaciation, erosion, and deposition. Topics include distribution of soils in North America; residual, glacial and water-wind deposited soils; soil characteristics and behavior; engineering classification; volume-weight relationships; physical properties; and stresses within soil masses. (Writing Enriched ) Fall Only.
