Pennsylvania College of Technology has presented student achievement awards to its Spring 2017 graduates. More than 900 students petitioned to graduate at the conclusion of the spring semester, and three commencement ceremonies were held May 12-13 at the Community Arts Center. Penn College is a special mission affiliate of The Pennsylvania State University.

Five students in manufacturing-related majors are the beneficiaries of a $20,000 grant from the Gene Haas Foundation to Pennsylvania College of Technology. The foundation, established in 1999 by the owner of Haas Automation Inc., furnishes scholarship grants to institutions that provide education and training in CNC (computer-numeric controlled) machining.

Pennsylvania College of Technology held its yearly Employee Recognition ceremony on May 11, presenting awards to Distinguished Staff, a part-time instructor, a faculty adviser, the latest inductees to its Quarter Century Club and employees who retired during 2016-17.

On the eve of graduation, amid the annual celebration of first-rate faculty and staff, Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour brought down the curtain on 2016-17 with a grateful and optimistic look ahead.

The Central Pennsylvania Section of the American Welding Society has honored a Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty member. Timothy S. Turnbach, instructor of welding, recently received the Howard E. Adkins Memorial Instructor Section Award during a ceremony at the college.

“Working Class: Build & Grow Green,” produced by Pennsylvania College of Technology and WVIA Public Media, has earned a 2017 Bronze Telly Award. It is the second episode produced for the “Working Class” public television series and the second to win a Bronze Telly. “Working Class: Dream & Do” earned the award in 2016.

On April 28, 31 students became the first inductees to the Pennsylvania College of Technology Bachelor of Science Nursing Honor Society. Together, the students pledged to fulfill the society’s “commitment to nursing excellence, knowledge, service and leadership” throughout their careers.
