Sixty-six nursing and dental hygiene students took part in a “poverty simulation,” designed to put them in the shoes of families trying to meet obligations on a low income. “You never know what someone else is going through,” many students noted.
Hosting Penn State Harrisburg in its United East opener on Wednesday, Penn College Softball won the opener 5-4 in dramatic fashion and took the second 3-1. Hosting Cairn University in a twin bill on Tuesday, Penn College Baseball split, losing the first game 6-4 and winning the second 13-5.

Snyder, of Harrisburg, a landscape/plant production technology student at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was awarded a $4,500 Pennsylvania Landscape & Nursery Association Foundation Scholarship. After a fall season that included a first-place finish in the United East Fall Preview, Pennsylvania College of Technology golf coach Rob Lytle looks to use five spring outings to sharpen his team as it seeks to defend its regular-season-ending United East Championship and earn a second-straight trip to the NCAA Division III Championship. The Wildcats open their season on Friday and Saturday in the Pennsylvania Classic, hosted by Penn State Altoona on the Penn State White and Blue courses.
WBRE’s “Eyewitness News” team visited Penn College’s culinary arts labs early Wednesday to broadcast live as students prepared for this evening’s Napa Valley dinner in Le Jeune Chef Restaurant. The efforts of “crafty” Penn College students at a recent Wildcat Wednesday event will support a local social services organization devoted to family. During “Wildcat Wednesday: No-Sew Blankets,” several students crafted cozy, creative no-sew blankets earmarked for Dwell Orphan Care.
