The Pennsylvania Rural Development Council as selected Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus as its Northcentral Pennsylvania host site for quarterly meetings to be held during 1997-98. Quarterly Council meetings are held in the videoconferencing ("PicTel") facility at the North Campus.
The Board of Directors of Pennsylvania College of Technology met Thursday, Nov. 13, and discussed the process for selecting a new College president to replace Dr. Robert L. Breuder, who announced his retirement, effective Dec. 31. The Board approved a motion to hire a search firm to assist in the process.
The welding department at Pennsylvania College of Technology is now accredited by the American Welding Society as a National Testing Facility for welders. The department has met all of the society's requirements for Accreditation of Test Facilities for a Certified Welder Program. A number of Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty and staff recently have been in the news for a variety of accomplishments. Charles Russo, assistant professor of business administration/accounting, recently obtained his Certified Public Accountant license in Pennsylvania. Russo is now a CPA in both Pennsylvania and Florida. He also is a certified management accounting.
The Board of Directors of Pennsylvania College of Technology has named Dr. Davie Jane Gilmour the interim chief operating officer of Penn College, effective immediately. Beginning Jan. 1, 1998, Dr. Gilmour will serve as the interim president, while a search is conducted to fill the vacancy created by the announced retirement of Dr. Robert L. Breuder.
