Twenty Pennsylvania College of Technology students have been hired to help provide food service for the 133rd running of the Kentucky Derby in Louisville, Ky., in early May.
Did you know that Food Services has kept 5,242 pounds out of the waste stream this school year? This has been accomplished by sending vegetable scraps and coffee grounds to the Earth Science Center to be composted. The Penn College community learned more about that process and other efforts Food Services is making to help the environment during an Earth Day Fair from noon-2 p.m.
A faculty member in Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Integrated Studies presented a paper at the Workshop on Nondisciplinary Philosophy, held earlier this month in Binghamton, N.Y. Brian M. McKeon, assistant professor of biology, presented "Psychological Dialetheism" during the April 14 workshop at Binghamton University.
Sixteen Penn College students, faculty and staff the largest turnout this year for a Student Activities community-service project took part in a "Civility Saturday" event at the Lycoming County SPCA on Reach Road. The group performed maintenance and grounds work in the pet cemetery, washed the agency's vehicles, cleaned out and washed the ambulance, and power-washed the kennels.

Students in Donald Nibert's Wildlife Management class visited the Loyalsock Game Farm during their three-hour lab Thursday to assist the Pennsylvania Game Commission in erecting nylon netting over holding pens for newly hatched pheasants. The netting is applied to protect the 4-week-old chicks from avian predators.
Three Pennsylvania College of Technology students turned in blue-ribbon performances, and a number of classmates also placed during forestry-related events at the recent Mid-Atlantic Woodsman's Meet on the main campus of Dabney S. Lancaster Community College in Virginia.
