A season of firsts for the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's softball team came to an incredible finish Saturday. Despite the fact that 13 of his 17 players were freshmen, the most he's had on any of his six teams, coach Roger Harris thought his team was going to be good this season, but he had no idea how good.
More than 1,000 students have petitioned to graduate in May from Pennsylvania College of Technology. The college will hold two commencement ceremonies May 19 at the Community Arts Center in Williamsport. A ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. for students in the schools of Business and Computer Technologies, Health Sciences, Hospitality, and Industrial and Engineering Technologies.
The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development recently awarded $400,000 to the Community Arts Center, a wholly owned subsidiary of Pennsylvania College of Technology. The funds will be used to upgrade the historic facility located in downtown Williamsport. The announcement was made on the eve of the 14th anniversary of the unveiling of the refurbished Community Arts Center.
Students in Penn College's environmental technology program teamed up with fourth-graders from Sheridan Elementary School to study the benethic organisms of Millers Run in Williamsport on Wednesday. Millers Run is a small stream that flows through Bruce Henry Park in Loyalsock Township. not far from the pupils' school.
David J. Slezak, 20, a Penn College student from Loyalhanna, Westmoreland County, has died from injuries suffered in an auto accident Monday in White Deer Township, Union County. Resident Assistants at The Village at Penn College hosted their annual Villapalooza from 9-11 p.m. Sunday. The event included Dance Dance Revolution, Guitar Hero, RA Clayton Morrow as DJ, casino tables and mocktails. For the first time since the tradition began in 2001, the RAs decided on a late-night event with glowing mocktail glasses and outdoor video screens.
