Pennsylvania College of Technology is premiering an August commencement on Sunday, Aug. 9. The ceremony will take place at 2:30 p.m., on the campus mall in front of the Advanced Technology and Health Sciences Center. Students graduating at the conclusion of the May or June semesters are eligible to participate in the event.

Pennsylvania College of Technology will welcome its 1998 freshman class in an Aug. 15 "Convocation" ceremony that also will feature a ceremonial installation of Dr. Davie Jane Gilmour, who begins her first full academic year as Penn College president. A highlight of the first year of Dr. Gilmour's presidency will be a special "Diamond 10" anniversary celebration.

The center has earned accreditation by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs, the nation's oldest and largest organization of early-childhood professionals.

Philadelphia area dental hygienists now have the opportunity to earn baccalaureate degrees to advance in their field thanks to a unique program using videoconferencing technology. The bachelor of science degree course work in dental hygiene will be delivered from Pennsylvania College of Technology, in Williamsport, to a classroom at Montgomery County Community College.

The North American Council of Automotive Teachers is celebrating its 25th annual conference and has selected Pennsylvania College of Technology to be the host site. NACAT delegates from across the United States and Canada will converge on the Penn College campus the week of July 20-24 to learn about new advances in the transportation industry and new approaches in education.

Two endowed scholarships and a new Toyota award are among recent gifts presented through the Pennsylvania College of Technology Foundation.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus is serving as the Northcentral region host site for the June quarterly meeting of the Pennsylvania Rural Development Council. Counties served by this location include Bradford, Clinton, Lycoming, Potter, Sullivan and Tioga. The meeting, which is free and open to the public, is scheduled for Friday, June 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
