Students from Lumley Aviation Center were invited to get up close and personal Friday with the Goodyear blimp, in town to provide television coverage for the Little League World Series. One of the Goodyear maintenance technicians walked with the students around the airship while explainingdetails of blimp construction and maintenance.
Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball coach Rees Daneker thinks his team will be strong defensively, but wonders how the early-season pitching will hold up. It won't take him long to find out as the Wildcats are scheduled to open their season with doubleheaders Saturday and Sunday at Bowman Field against Westmoreland Community College. Saturday's action begins at 2 p.m.

CC Commons, Penn College's newest dining unit on campus, has opened on the first floor of the Bush Campus Center. Designed to be an all-you-can-eat facility for students with board meal plans,italso has a cash price for declining-balance or cash customers. Menus at CC Commons change from lunch to dinner, and every day there is a different selection.
Representatives from Saudi Aramco (Saudi Arabian Oil Co.) and its wholly owned subsidiary, Aramco Services Co., visited paramedic facilities on campus Wednesday. For four years, Penn College has been training students − sponsored by Aramco Services − to earn their associate's degrees in the paramedic major. They will later work in Aramco's 500-bed hospital in Saudi Arabia.
Faculty are invited to participate in the Teachers Learning Community, a group of faculty from all areas of campus who gather on a monthly basis to engage in discussion on scholarly teaching, exchange ideas and gather feedback. This semester kicks off with a screening of the 2002 film " The Emperor's Club" at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 1 in CAL, Room104. Everyone is invited.

An automotive professor at Pennsylvania College of Technology has co-authored two books − characterized as first-of-their-kind texts for automotive professionals − and has been accepted into "Who's Who in America." Ronald A. Garner, an associate professor of automotive technology, co-wrote "The Service Consultant: Working in an Automotive Facility" with C.
Based on their high academic achievements, six freshmen are the first to have been accepted into the new honors program at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
Fall 2005 Orientation culminated in a "Penn College Welcome" event on main campus Sunday night, offering the academic community a last dose of summer fun before Monday's start of classes. Students heard remarks from Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour; Student Government Association President Sabrena O'Keefe; and Chester D. Schuman, director of admissions.
