A land-development-engineering company based in Rockville, Md., has established a scholarship fund targeting civil engineering technology students at Pennsylvania College of Technology while continuing to offer a variety of support for students.

A research article by Jeremiah C. Gee, assessment coordinator in Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Integrated Studies, was published in the September/October 2007 issue of American Jails magazine, the official publication of the American Jail Association.
Abdul B. Pathan, professor of economics at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently presented a paper at the 30th annual meeting of the Northeastern Association of Business, Economics and Technology. The paper, "Use of Real World Events to Teach Principles of Economics," will be published in the conference proceedings. The event was held Oct. 25-26 in State College.
For the fourth straight season, Pennsylvania College of Technology's women's volleyball team is playoff-bound and has a legitimate shot at winning a conference championship. The Lady Wildcats, under eighth-year coach Bambi Hawkins, completed their regular season with a 16-6 overall record and were 14- 2 in Penn State University Athletic Conference matches.
Two of Williamsport's three mayoral candidates in next Tuesday's election met with Penn College students Tuesday night during a forum in Penn's Inn. Student Government Association President Andrew S. Wisner moderated the discussion between Democratic nominee William McConnell and Republican write-in candidate Thomas P. O'Connor, who also took questions from the audience.
Thirteen Penn College students volunteered for the Lycoming County SPCA last weekend as part of the college's Civility Saturday program. Volunteers worked outside, washed vehicles, helped with cleaning and maintenance in and around the kennel area, organized and cleaned the lobby and gift shop, and were able to spend some time with the animals.
Youngsters from the Children's Learning Center toured the Gallery at Penn College on Monday, viewing the current exhibit by Florence Putterman and gettingan on-site opportunity for some personal creativity. The Selinsgrove artist also held a printmaking workshop for middle-school students later in the day. The exhibit runs through Sunday. Gallery hours are 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 2-8 p.m.
Students from Penn College's School of Natural Resources Management recently got some help from acknowledged authorities when it comes to digging in the dirt: a group of boys and girls from the Williamsport YMCA child-care facility.
Student Jana Rodionov led a live broadcast for WPTC, the campus radio station, from the Children's Learning Center on Monday morning. She visited the Bunnies, Birds and Bears to talk with the children about their Halloween costumes and activities. The Bears were even on-air singing a jack-o-lantern song!
