A cultural interchange between Pennsylvania College of Technology and visitors from North West Regional College in Northern Ireland – a two-week whirlwind that was five years in the making – came to a close with memories indelibly shared and lives irrevocably altered.
The Gene Haas Foundation has awarded a $1 million grant to Pennsylvania College of Technology to facilitate renovations and upgrades to the college’s 12,200-square-foot automated manufacturing lab, which will be known as the Gene Haas Center for Innovative Manufacturing.
Ten students and two chaperones from Northern Ireland’s North West Regional College spent the first full day of their Williamsport stay in the company of local hosts who made them feel instantly at home.
An Emergency Medical Technician course, beginning the week of Aug. 14 and running through early December, will be offered at three locations by Workforce Development at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry Secretary Jennifer Berrier on Tuesday toured Indiana County's River Valley STEAM Academy, a workforce development education model that partners with Pennsylvania College of Technology, among others, to prepare students for in-demand careers, including cybersecurity, electrical occupations, and sports medicine and rehabilitative therapy.
Jake C. Beatty volunteered for the class project because it sounded “cool.” Turns out, he was right. The result was an invaluable experience for the manufacturing student at Pennsylvania College of Technology and will benefit those who follow his path.
