Apprenticeship partner's workforce gains hands-on experience

Employees from several facilities within The Ellwood Group Inc., a family-owned company with more than 25 locations throughout the United States that align with Penn College majors, received hands-on instruction in the Center for Business & Workforce Development's mechatronics technology lab this week.

Ellwood is among the college's Corporate Tomorrow Makers, and all of its employees visiting campus are part of an registered apprenticeship program. Thomas W. Fry, an industrial training specialist, provided a full day's education and encouragement – mechanical topics in the morning, motors and electricity in the afternoon.
