For the first time, Pennsylvania College of Technology is home to a four-year honor society. Twenty-four Penn College students were recently inducted into Alpha Chi, a national honor society for baccalaureate degree students. Also at the event, the College's chapter of Alpha Chi, the Pennsylvania Xi Chapter, was inaugurated by Robert W. Sledge, president of the Alpha Chi National Council.
State Sen. Jake Corman and Lycoming County District Attorney Thomas Marino will provide keynote addresses at Pennsylvania College of Technology's two commencement exercises on Saturday, May 15. The ceremonies will take place at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. in the Community Arts Center in downtown Williamsport. Corman, a 1990 graduate of the College, will speak in the morning.
Pennsylvania College of Technology's senior legal assistant studies students will be hosting their own series of legal talks at the College. Featuring discussions on current trends and hot topics in the law, the program is part of the bachelor's degree requirement for the students' "capstone" course.
Pennsylvania College of Technology culinary students will be seeing more food than horses when they hit the ground running at the Kentucky Derby. One day's menu alone calls for approximately 1,600 pounds of prime rib, 2,000 pounds of seafood salad, 600 pounds of potatoes, and a ton of asparagus.
Ten Pennsylvania College of Technology students recently captured first place in their respective fields at the Pennsylvania Association Vocational Industrial Clubs of America District 6 Competition. The competition was held at SUN Area Vocational-Technical School, in New Berlin. The winners advance to the state VICA Skills Championships.
Building a great reputation for their college, Pennsylvania College of Technology construction students traveled to Dallas recently to compete at the 1999 International Builders' Show.
Pennsylvania College of Technology is gearing up for its second annual "Homecoming." The celebration will be Monday, Feb. 1, through Saturday, Feb. 6. A highlight of the festivities will be two basketball games on Saturday (Feb. 6) in the Bardo Gymnasium. The week will culminate with a Homecoming Dance and crowning of a Homecoming King and Queen.
