Penn College may have been on a 1.5-hour delay Thursday morning, but Rob Hinkal, social media specialist, sprang into action to grab a few snowy mementos to share with the college community and its fans from afar. Of course, the main morning heroes were the college’s General Services staff, who are always first on the scene to clear the paths for the arrival of Wildcats. This early December snow has “tied a bow” on the nearly complete Fall 2024 classes. Finals Week is up next: Dec. 9-13.
The annual Poinsettia Sale at Penn College’s Schneebeli Earth Science Center greenhouse begins on Monday, Dec. 9. Sale hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday while the inventory lasts. (The center is closed Saturday and Sunday.) According to the greenhouse elves, a variety of colors are available. Small poinsettias are $8, with large ones priced at $10.
Pennsylvania College of Technology automotive restoration student Ty M. Tucker and the 1948 Tucker car recently restored by students are in the spotlight with WNEP-TV's "On the Pennsylvania Road." Tucker, the great-great grandson of Preston Tucker, the legendary automotive figure responsible for the car, takes WNEP-TV anchor/reporter Jon Meyer for a spin in this segment, which aired on Wednesday.
Penn College's 2023-24 Impact Report — titled "Moving the Mission Forward" — is available online. The report gives a glimpse of the opportunities realized at Penn College in 2023-24, thanks to the efforts of many. "Pennsylvania College of Technology is an engine of economic development, crafting and adapting curriculum to meet workforce needs since 1914," says Penn College President Michael J. Reed in a video message. "The mission continues."

The Dunham Children’s Learning Center at Pennsylvania College of Technology received a $6,000 Keystone Stars Continuous Quality Improvement grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services through STEP Inc. Keystone Stars is an initiative of the Pennsylvania Office of Child Development and Early Learning to improve, support and recognize the quality of Pennsylvania’s early learning and school-age programs.
Services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 30, for George Franklin Blett III, a former Pennsylvania College of Technology employee who died on Nov. 23 at the age of 76. Blett served as coordinator of disability services from 1999 to 2003. A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland, where funeral services will begin at 1 p.m.
Honoring Native American Heritage Month, Penn College hosted a November performance by the Piscataway Nation Dancers & Singers. Led by Piscataway Chief Mark Tayac, the 29th generation of hereditary chiefs, the troupe hails from Tayac Territory, near Port Tobacco, Maryland.
As part of Penn College's "Give Thanks, Paw It Forward" campaign, an annual expression of deep and widespread appreciation, College Relations is amplifying students’ gratitude for their life-changing collegiate experiences through a pre-Thanksgiving campaign of thankfulness.
