Chalmer Van Horn, a retired faculty member who taught engineering drafting for nearly three decades at Pennsylvania College of Technology and its two predecessor institutions, has endowed two scholarships at the college, including one that honors the memory of his wife of 56 years, Ruth Ann.

Information technology students from Pennsylvania College of Technology distinguished themselves once again at a recent network security conference in Rochester, N.Y. For the second consecutive year, students from Penn College’s School of Industrial, Computing & Engineering Technologies won the Hacker Battleship competition at the Security B-Sides Rochester Conference.

Through a grant from the state Department of Community and Economic Development, the Innovative Manufacturers’ Center partnered with Pennsylvania College of Technology to increase access to additive manufacturing among both educators and industry.

More than 900 Pennsylvania College of Technology students have petitioned to graduate at the completion of the Spring 2014 semester, and the college has scheduled three ceremonies May 16-17 for those who will march at commencement. Penn College student Scott D. Hubler, of Coplay, successfully completed the ARCA race at Talladega Superspeedway on Saturday. The building automation technology major finished 24th out of 36 racers in the International Motorsports Hall of Fame 200. The 76-lap race was nationally televised on FOX Sports 1. The ARCA race was the second for Hubler.

The National Science Foundation is recognizing Pennsylvania College of Technology’s commitment to applied technology education with a $616,417 grant to benefit students.

The American Welding Society Student Chapter at Pennsylvania College of Technology hosted its first Welding Merit Badge program from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, in the college's Avco-Lycoming Metal Trades Center. Fourteen Boy Scouts (ages 13-16) attended, representing six troops from central Pennsylvania – a couple of which drove more than an hour to participate.
