Human services students at Pennsylvania College of Technology will present an Assistive Technology Exposition on April 13 in the college's Field House. The expo, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., is being held in conjunction with the Mid-Atlantic Consortium for Human Services annual conference, to be hosted on campus April 13-15.

Penn College Human Service students held their Ten Thousand Villages Fair on Thursday and Friday in the CC Lobby. All proceeds from the sale which includes jewelry, baskets and many other unique and handmade items went to the crafters of Ten Thousand Villages, a fair-trade organization working with underdeveloped countries. Degree programs in human services at Pennsylvania College of Technology recently earned accreditation from the Council for Standards in Human Service Education. The college's bachelor-degree major in applied human services and its associate-degree major in human services have been accredited by the council for the next five years.

A Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty member was one of the winners of a special judging for a Daily Point of Light Award presented during National Volunteer Week. LaRue R. Reese, of Wellsboro, an assistant professor of human services/social sciences, received the award for April 24.

Sherry L. Heckman, a May 2005 graduate of Pennsylvania College of Technology, was one of three people nationwide honored as Outstanding Human Service Students during the National Organization for Human Services annual conference in New Jersey. Heckman, of Muncy, graduated with honors from Penn College, earning a bachelor's degree in applied human services.

While frigid winds gusted, whipping snowflakes through the air, students enrolled in the human services major at Pennsylvania College of Technology alternated shifts to spend 24 hours outdoors at Market and West Fourth streets in Williamsport recently to call attention to the number of people who are homeless in Lycoming County and the surrounding region.

Catherine V. McCall of Media, a senior in the applied human services major, has been selected as the Student Government Association's "Student of the Month" for November. A student leader and Resident Assistant in the College West Apartments, McCall shows enthusiasm and dedication on and off campus.
